Ontario nurses continue May Day! campaign with arm bands

Magenta arm bands latest tactic in protest against poor working conditions

Nurses across Ontario are wearing magenta arm bands at work this week to protest working conditions. It is part of an ongoing campaign called “May Day! May Day! Nurses in Crisis!”, by The Ontario Nurses Association (ONA).

According to ONA, the purpose of the campaign is to demand that the government address nurses’ workload concerns and the nursing shortage in the province. Nurses are also upset about the breakdown in contract negotiations with the Ontario Hospital Association and Community Care Access Centre employers who they say have failed to address the issues of wages and benefits, and working conditions.
