Wal-Mart sued for bias against female employees

Six female employees in California have filed a class-action suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

The former and current employees charge that the retailer does not provide equal opportunities: pay, training, assignments or career path opportunities for women who work there.

Women make up about 72 per cent of the hourly sales employees at Wal-Mart, and about one-third of management. Wal-Mart’s competitors generally have about 56 per cent of women in their management ranks.
