Manitoba Telecom Services, Siemens and Oracle are among the Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations in Canada, according to research conducted by Sustainalytics, an environmental, social and governance research firm.
The list features companies that perform well across key environmental and social dimensions within their industries. They are considered best-of-sector among their peers and exhibit leadership with respect to corporate sustainability in Canada.
“As the Canadian public becomes more aware of the impact of sustainability issues on the world around them, they are looking at the role of business in addressing these challenges,” said Michael Jantzi, Sustainalytics CEO. “Many of the world’s leading organizations have already embedded sustainability into their business models, and through the Top 50 feature Canadians can become more informed about corporate Canada’s efforts in this area.”
A trend towards more collaboration and co-operation has emerged, said Sustainalytics. Working groups and other sector-specific partnerships are a positive step towards moving industry-wide sustainability initiatives forward. This trend is especially prevalent among companies in more consumer-facing industries such as textile and apparel, food and beverage, and electronics, as they work together to address shared supply chain challenges like working conditions and factory safety.
