he percentage of Canadians working at or below the minimum wage dropped between 1997 and 2003, according to the latest figures from Statistics Canada.

Four per cent of the workforce, or 547,000 people, worked at or below the minimum wage in 2003, down from 5.7 per cent in 1997.
