Ontario WSIB and CRA Continue to work together

The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) recently announced that it is continuing its exchange-of-information agreement with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

Two years ago, the WSIB and the CRA agreed to exchange employer business information to help find employers who should be registered with both bodies, but have only registered with one.

The WSIB said the agreement has resulted in more employers complying with the requirements of both the WSIB and the CRA.

As a result of the ongoing agreement between the WSIB and the CRA, the two organizations will continue to exchange employer summary payroll information to make sure that employers pay the required amount for WSIB premiums, CPP contributions, and EI premiums, and that they deduct and remit the proper amount of income tax from employees' pay. Where there are discrepancies in the information, the WSIB or the CRA will contact the employer.
