To ensure the health and wellness of employees, the responsibility can’t rest with any one person or department. Instead, it is a responsibility that has to be shared throughout the organization, says Judith MacBride-King, principal of research and consulting firm MacBride-King and Associates in Ottawa.

“Health isn’t the responsibility of a position. Good health is the responsibility of all of us,” she said. “If it’s only owned by one little group, you’ll never be a fully healthy organization.”

It is this kind of ownership that MBA students at York University’s Schulich School of Business in Toronto are learning.
