The overwhelming majority of Irish businesses in the south-west area of the country believe the smoking ban has had a positive effect.

A survey done by FACT, a health and safety company, found that 97 of 100 County Kerry businesses surveyed believed the ban had resulted in an improvement in the health of Irish people.

Specifically, 93 respondents believed the ban would help reduce heart disease and strokes.
