Nova Scotia raises minimum wage

Goes up to $8.10 per hour on May 1

on Oct. 1, 2010, Nova Scotians earning minimum wage will make $9.65 per hour, earning more than the low-income cutoff line.

But they won’t have to wait that long for an increase — effective May 1, 2008, the minimum wage rate will rise to $8.10 per hour. And on April 1, 2009, it will increase to $8.60, on April 1, 2010, to $9.20 and on Oct. 1, 2010, it will increase to $9.65. After March 31, 2011, the minimum wage will be adjusted annually based on the consumer price index.
