CareerBuilder, Facebook join forces

Partnership allows employers to target ads to specific user profiles

Internet jobs site CareerBuilder.com is teaming up with online social network Facebook to help clients run recruitment campaigns on the popular site.

Specialized recruiting ads will promote CareerBuilder and employers' sections within Facebook to attract potential hires. The partnership will give the jobs site's clients access to a pool of recruits who might not be searching for jobs through traditional newspaper help-wanted ads.

The partnership also allows clients to target ads to users who meet a certain criteria. For example, an engineering firm could target college seniors who are about to earn degrees in engineering or a hospital could find users who are nurses.

The targeted ads will appear on the side of the Faceboook site or within a user's daily summary of activity. The ads will take users to the CareerBuilder web page.

Users' privacy will be protected and nothing is inserted into anyone's profile, said Mike Murhpy, vice-president of media sales for Facebook.
