SHRM names new CEO

HR veteran takes the helm of world's largest HR association in U.S.

The world's largest human resource management association, located in Alexandria, Va., has appointed a new president and CEO.

Lon O'Neil, who was the senior vice-president and chief human resources officer at Kaiser Permanente, a $40 billion not-for-profit health organization with 158,000 employees, will take the helm of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) on Oct. 1.

"Lon brings extensive HR, corporate and international experience to our organization," said Janet Parker, chair of the SHRM board of directors and executive vice-president for HR at Regions Financial Corporation.
