CHRP a valuable achievement (letter to the editor)

In the September 11 issue, the article “CHRP more of an asset to climbers than execs” canvassed HR professionals about the CHRP designation. Readers are encouraged to add their views.

I am very proud to say I have my designation. I too feel it needs to be standardized nationally. In my opinion, it would be a qualification required for most prospective employers in Ontario. It should be just as important in all provinces, the same as any other degree.

When I brought my certificate to the office, our president simply said, “that’s nice”. He had no idea what was required to earn this certificate and there was no value/salary added. Our managers need to be educated somehow so that this too shall change.
