Retailers use kiosks to screen applicants, retain staff

Some big-name retailers in the U.S. are using kiosks in their stores to attract and screen new workers.

According to The Interviewer’s Edge online, the kiosks can replace paper applications and face-to-face first interviews.

Potential job candidates fill out an electronic application, using a keyboard on the kiosk. By answering a series of basic questions, they do much of the screening themselves, because the computer can sort out those who are, for instance, under-age. Screened applications are automatically sent to the appropriate department manager.
