However, 30 per cent describe their boss as more Scrooge-like. "Bosses recognize their staff have worked extra hard through the ups and downs of the economy and want to reward them with a well-deserved break from work over the holidays,” said Peter Gilfillan, senior vice-president of international sales and general manager at Monster Canada. And most workers will do just that, as 79 per cent of 1,013 Canadians (547 employed) surveyed plan to take time off during the holidays. While 48 per cent have no plans to do any work until they return to their job, about 31 per cent said they will be checking in from time to time or making themselves available if the boss calls.
