Resources for payroll staff

Although this issue’s column does not feature payroll software service providers or software vendors, it is not because of a lack of sites online. A simple search of “payroll software” or “payroll service provider” should produce enough results to last you the day. Or easier still, check the technology section of Canadian HR Reporter’s HR Guide 2000. The Web addresses that follow are some good sites that provide practical information and resources to make sure that your payroll staff is kept up to date.

Canadian Payroll Association
www.payroll.ca
The Canadian Payroll Association, like many associations, restricts access to the site to members only. However, there are many resources you can access without having to be a member. To keep up to date on practices and trends in payroll, click on “Library” to search for related articles. The site is updated with information on courses and workshops across Canada and provides a good listing of vendors of payroll-related products (software, publications, etc.).

Carswell — The Payroll Community Web site
