Chief information officers (CIOs) forecast a net 28 per cent increase in the hiring of information technology (IT) professionals in the second quarter of 2001, according to RHI Consulting's Information Technology Hiring Index.

Twenty-nine per cent of executives surveyed said their firms plan to add IT personnel in the second quarter, while one per cent said they expect reductions. Sixty-nine per cent of CIOs foresee no change in staff levels.

The poll includes responses from 270 CIOs from Canadian companies with 100 or more employees. It was developed by RHI Consulting, a consulting services firm.
