Web sight The right side of the law - online

Empathy. That’s what I have for the workplace policymakers of Canada. Although, most of our workplace policies are designed to meet the minimum standard as it relates to federal and provincial laws, the application of those laws seems to be changing all the time.

HR professionals agree that sexual harassment should never be tolerated in the workplace, but what exactly constitutes sexual harassment?

What about discrimination based upon disabilities or any kind of discrimination for that matter?

Below are listed human rights commission Web sites having federal and provincial authority. On each site you can access decisions of the commissions to review related cases based upon sexual harassment, discrimination, and other tricky workplace issues.

By reviewing cases you will be able to further educate your employees to ensure that your organization limits its liability in these areas.

A few one-hit wonders, below, will also keep you up to date on employment law issues and decisions.

XPDNC
http://xpdnc.com/links/law.html

Expediency (XPDNC) provides an exhaustive list of links on the subject of labour law, not just for Canada but throughout the world. This is an extremely valuable Web site on employment law that you absolutely must bookmark in your browser.

Supreme Court of Canada
www.scc-csc.gc.ca

Through this Web site you can get access to judgments regarding cases heard through the Supreme Court of Canada. However, the site is rather difficult to navigate as the decisions are listed by year and by name, making it difficult to search for cases relating to specific issues. Most decisions are available in a number of formats for download (RTF, TXT, HTML or WordPerfect) making it fairly accessible to everyone.
