Provincial minimum wage rates rose in several provinces on Oct. 1.

Alberta's base rate rose from $12.20 an hour to $13.60. The hike is part of the government’s plan to implement a $15 minimum wage in October of next year.

Manitoba’s minimum wage rate rose from $11.00 an hour to $11.15.

The minimum wage rate in Newfoundland and Labrador jumped from $10.75 an hour to $11.00.

Saskatchewan's minimum wage went from $10.72 an hour to $10.96.

Ontario's base wage went up from $11.40 an hour to $11.60 on Oct. 1, and will jump again on Jan. 1 in the province's effort to move the rate to $15 by 2019.

On Sept. 15, British Columbia's minimum rate rose from $10.85 an hour to $11.35.
