Bill Greenhalgh is resigning from his post as CEO of the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) in Ontario. He has been CEO for 12 years.

“As we complete the last year of our current strategic plan and look to the future direction for HRPA, Bill was hesitant about committing to a full-time role for the further years required to develop and execute our next plan and we agreed that it was a good time to start a search for a new CEO,” said Karen Stone, chair of the HRPA board, in a memo to members.

“Bill has played a critical role in the development and success of the association and has committed to provide whatever support necessary to ensure a smooth transition, and we wish him the best of luck.”

The board acknowledged his many accomplishments that have contributed to the growth of the profession, including Tier 1 Ontario regulatory status in 2013 for HR professionals with the passing of Bill 32, An Act Respecting the Human Resources Professionals Association.

It has been an enormous privilege leading the association, said Greenhalgh, “in a time of transformation and growth for both the HR profession and the association. I am proud to have worked with so many wonderful colleagues, made many friends and I wish everyone the very best for the future."

Moving forward, the board said it is in the process of selecting an interim CEO who will be in place by Sept. 30. HRPA will hire an executive search firm and launch a formal search and selection process for the permanent role.
