Most professionals feel work-life balance is ‘good’ or ‘very good’: Survey

Nearly 2 in 5 say balance has improved over past 3 years

When it comes to work-life balance, workers may be in better shape than we think — the majority, or 65 per cent, say their work-life balance is either good or very good, according to a survey of more than 400 Canadian professionals. Nearly two in five workers feel their work-life balance has improved over the past three years.

At the same time, there is still room for improvement, indicated the survey by Robert Half Management Resources.

Thirty-five per cent of workers still consider their work-life balance fair or poor, found the survey. And 22 per cent of respondents said they have less balance now compared to three years ago.

"The meaning of work-life balance has evolved considerably in recent years, resulting in professional definitions that are incredibly nuanced and personal," said David King, Canadian president of Robert Half Management Resources.

"It is up to managers to recognize that supporting employees to the fullest requires identifying what balance means to them, and helping to tailor an approach that fits their needs."

A separate survey examined the attitudes of CFOs when it comes to work-life balance, finding 80 per cent of CFOs rated their work-life balance as good or very good.
