Government introduces pooled registered pension plans act
OTTAWA — The federal government has tabled legislation to establish pooled registered pension plans (PRPPs). They are meant to be an accessible, large-scale and low-cost defined contribution (DC) pension option for employers, the self-employed and employees who currently may not participate in an employer-sponsored pension plan.
Many execs expect employees to attend holiday party: survey
TORONTO — More than one-half (54 per cent) of executives whose companies host holiday parties said there’s no unwritten rule requiring employees to attend. But 41 per cent said making an appearance is expected, according to a survey by OfficeTeam of more than 300 senior managers at Canadian companies. Off-site parties are the most common (48 per cent), with on-site parties or luncheons offered by 36 per cent.
