TORONTO (Reuters) - Canada lost 23,000 jobs in October, driven by a decline in hiring in the trade, transportation and utilities and natural resources and mining sectors, according to a report from ADP.

"Hiring slowed significantly this month," said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute.  "Despite steep declines in trade, natural resources and mining, and leisure and hospitality, we did see some solid growth in education and health care, manufacturing and professional services."

The number of jobs added in September was revised higher to 66,900 from 28,800, said ADP .

The report, which is jointly developed with Moody's Analytics, is derived from ADP's payrolls data of about 40,000 companies.
