Intranets are still a relatively new technology, and most businesses are still just looking forward to getting employee self-service.

But others have already moved beyond that and are taking advantage of the opportunities an intranet-enabled workforce provides for innovative people management. Career self-management programs, for instance.

Feedback gathered from employees in late 1996 suggested TD should make improvements in providing employees with career development tools and resources to help them manage their careers, explains Lianne Leduc, manager, people development for TD Bank Financial Group.
