From the trenches to the boardroom

Whether in the trenches of Vietnam or in the bunkers of the corporate world, the key to effective leadership is alignment, says Alfred Coke.

Coke, a former infantry officer with the United States Army for more than 20 years and at one time the Army’s chief of staff at the Pentagon, has spent more than three decades teaching corporate leaders how to make that happen.

And he takes his cue from his colourful military experience. Coke’s military-inspired model is based on the job descriptions of higher-ranking military leaders, which can translate to all levels of the corporate world, from lower-end management to senior executives and CEOs.
