Pay Linx Financial, a mobile banking and stored-value card financial transactions company, has partnered with RBC to provide an RBC QuickLinx Prepaid Benefit card, designed for government agencies as an alternative to paper cheques.
As RBC implements a prepaid platform for consumers, Pay Linx will provide back-end services, processing and customer support for cardholders. Similar to a debit card, the QuickLinx card gives cardholders access to their benefit payments through ATMs and purchases at most stores in Canada using point-of-sale terminals.
This means government agencies will be able to provide access to individuals who receive benefit or social assistance payments.
The success of a pilot project operating since March 2006 with the Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry lead to the agreement, said Pay Linx’s president, Ian McNeill.
