Awards recognize employers who excel at employing youth, persons with disabilities
Nominations are now open to recognize an employer in Alberta who has excelled at employing youth or persons with disabilities in the workplace or a self-employed Aboriginal woman.
Of the 11 awards, the Alberta government sponsors five while various non-profit, private and public sector organizations sponsor six awards. The five awards sponsored by the Alberta government include: •The Premier’s Award of Distinction recognizing outstanding involvement, achievement and leadership in Alberta’s business community •The Employer of Persons with Disabilities Award of Distinction recognizing an employer instrumental in hiring, training and developing employees with disabilities •The Employer of Youth Award of Distinction recognizing an organization that has done well in hiring youth and providing ongoing career opportunities •The Aboriginal Woman Entrepreneur Award of Distinction recognizing outstanding leadership and innovation •The Diversity Leadership Award of Distinction recognizing organizations that embrace diversity, encourage respect while working toward eliminating discrimination. The remaining awards include: •The Small Business Award of Distinction •The Aboriginal Relations – Best Practice Award of Distinction •The Eagle Feather Business Award of Distinction •The Marketing Award of Distinction •The Youth Entrepreneur Award of Distinction • The Export Award of Distinction.
