Regulatory HR bill in Ontario passes second reading

Referred to standing committee

The bill that would see HR professionals regulated in a manner similar to accountants in Ontario passed second reading in the Ontario legislature on April 25.

Bill 32, An Act respecting the Human Resources Professionals Association, is sponsored by three MPPs: Vic Dhillon (Liberal), Christine Elliott (Progressive Conservative) and Michael Prue (NDP).

“Each spoke knowledgeably and strongly in favour of the bill, which resulted in unanimous all-party support,” said Bill Greenhalgh, CEO of the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).

The bill has been referred to the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills.
