Average weekly earnings climb to $933

Increase of 2.9 per cent from one year ago: Statistics Canada

That’s up 0.9 per cent from the previous month, and up 2.9 per cent from December 2012.

Statistics Canada pointed to a number of reasons for the increase, including wage growth, changes in the composition of employment by industry, occupation and level of job experience as well as average hours worked per week.

Non-farm payroll employees worked an average of 33.1 hours per week in December, compared with 32.9 hours in November and 33 hours in December 2012.
