Ranked first is interaction designer — expected to earn a 6.5 per cent bump in salary from 2015 to an average starting pay of C$63,000 to $93,750.

Others in the list are: user experience (UX) designer (6% increase, $71,000 to 120,000); systems security administrator (5.8%, $96,750 to 135,250); senior IT auditor (5.4%, $125,000 to 194,500); copywriter (5.4%, $52,000 to 64,750); network security engineer (5.1%, $110,750 to 150,250); big data engineer (5%, $123,000 to 158,000); and graphic designer (4.9%, $61,000 to 79,500).

"Finding professionals for in-demand roles remains a challenge, particularly in these top growth positions,” said Deborah Bottineau, senior regional manager of Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group. “Companies continue to expand their digital and creative initiatives, resulting in greater demand for employees with the skills necessary to drive business success.”

“Employers need to be decisive in their hiring. Managers should have enticing offers prepared that include competitive pay and benefits options ready for when they find a good fit for their organization."
