Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2023. Signed on Aug. 31, 2021.

Wage adjustments:

Effective April 1, 2021: 1%

Effective April 1, 2022: 1%

Shift premium: $2 per hour for employees required to work evening shift (scheduled to finish at 10 p.m. or later).

Paid holidays: 12 days, including 2 float days.

Vacations with pay: 9.375 hours per month to start, 112.5 hours per month after 6 months, 120 hours per month after 5 years, 127.5 hours per month after 6 years, 135 hours per month after 7 years, 150 hours per month after 8 years, 157.5 hours per month after 11 years, 165 hours per month after 13 years, 180 hours per month after 15 years, 187.5 hours per month after 17 years, 195 hours per month after 20 years, 202.5 hours per month after 22 years, 210 hours per month after 24 years, 217.5 hours per month after 26 years, 225 hours per month after 28 years. Unused vacation leave credits may be carried over from 1 year to next, maximum 10 days; any excess credits will be paid out.

Overtime: Paid at time and one-half; double time after 10 hours of overtime. May be taken as leave, maximum 5 days in compensatory leave bank. Any banked hours remaining at end of leave year (March 31) will be paid out at straight-time, during first full pay period after April 1.

Meal allowance: $16 if employee has been given less than 1 day’s notice of overtime.

Medical benefits: Employer will pay 50% of premiums, employee will pay 50% of premiums for Great-West Life health semi-private hospital supplement and extended health-care plans.

Dental: Employer will pay 100% of premiums. 80% reimbursement for basic preventative care; 50% for major restorative care which includes prosthodontic services: removal, prosthodontic services, fixed and restorative services, which include porcelain crowns, maximum $2,000.00 per individual per year, for major restorative care.

Vision: Employer will pay 100% of premiums. $300 every 24 months (previously $250 every 24 months) for corrective eyewear (additional maximum reimbursement of $50 for each 24-month period for eye exams, unless costs are covered by government health plan in employee’s home province).

Sick leave: Maximum 10 days’ absence, without medical certificate, during each leave year, April 1 to March 31. All employees will receive 6 days upon commencing employment and 6 days on each subsequent April 1.

LTD: Employer will pay 50% of premiums, employee will pay 50% of premiums.

Life insurance: Employer will pay 100% of premiums.

Pension: All employees will participate in pension plan provided under pension plan sponsored by MDS Nordion.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, foster-parent, stepparent, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, spouse, child, stepchild, grandparent, grandchild, stepgrandchild, father or mother of employee’s spouse, other relative living with employee). 2 days (3 days where extensive travel is required) for death of aunt, uncle, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law.

Seniority – recall rights: Period equal to amount of seniority or 12 months, whichever is less, after layoff.

Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at applicable overtime rate.

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for letters of reprimand and supporting documents related to specific disciplinary action.

Severance: 2 weeks’ pay to start; 1 week’s pay for each additional year of service, maximum 30 weeks’ pay on first layoff. 1 week’s pay for each year of service (less any period in which severance compensation, retiring leave or cash gratuity has previously been granted), maximum 20 weeks’ pay.

Editor’s notes: Marriage leave: Once during employee’s career, 5 days of special leave, with pay, will be given to get married, after 6 months of service. On-call pay: 1 hour’s pay at straight-time for each 8 consecutive hours or portion thereof on call.
