Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2017, to April 30, 2020. Signed on Aug. 17, 2017.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective May 1, 2018: 1.5%
Effective May 1, 2019: 1.5%
Shift premium: $1 per hour for shifts starting between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. $1.35 per hour (previously $1.10 per hour) for shifts starting between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. $1.70 per hour night-shift premium effective first full pay after May 1, 2018. $0.65 per hour for each hour worked on Sunday. $1.75 per hour for lead hands.
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 2 floating holidays. 
Vacations with pay: 4% to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 12 months, 3 weeks and 1 day or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks and 3 days or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks and 3 days after 20 years, 6 weeks and 3 days after 30 years, 7 weeks after 35 years. 5 days of employee’s vacation entitlement may be used as single vacation days.
Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Time and one-half for all hours worked on Saturday, except in cases where employees on 2-shift rotation begin work at 4:30 p.m. and are required to work until 1 a.m. on Saturday. In this situation, hour between Friday midnight and 1 a.m. Saturday will be paid at regular rate. Double time for all work on Sunday.
Meal allowance: $10 for employees who work overtime in excess of 2 hours with less than 24 hours’ notice.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 50% reimbursement for orthodontics for children, lifetime maximum of $2,000. Maximum $2,000 per year for basic coverage. 
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $275 every 24 months (previously $230 every 24 months). Employees, families will be eligible for 1 eye exam every 24 months, maximum $85 per exam.
Sick leave: 1 day after 3 months of service; 3 days after 6 months of service; 6 days after 1 year of service; 10 days after 2 years of service; 12 days after 3 years of service; 14 days after 4 years of service. Employer will pay employee time and one-half for each day of unused sick leave in February or March of each year. 
STD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 2/3 of weekly earnings, maximum 15 weeks. 
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 66 2/3% of weekly earnings, maximum $2,500 per month. 
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 1 times annual earnings. 
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 2 times annual earnings.
Pension: Employer pays 100% of cost for Longyear Canada Retirement Plan A for Hourly-rated Employees. $57 per year of service every month. For employees hired after Feb. 6, 2011, DC plan in which employee contributes minimum 2%, employer contributes 3% and initial deposit of $2,200 (4% after 5 years of service, 5% after 10 years of service).
Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, child, parent. 3 days for death of sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, stepparents, stepchildren, grandparents, grandparents of spouse, grandchildren, grandchildren of spouse.
Seniority – recall rights: 24 months with less than 5 years of seniority, 36 months with more than 5 years of seniority. 
Probationary period: 90 days during 6-month period. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.
Severance: If North Bay plant closes permanently, employer will increase maximum under severance pay regulations from 26 weeks to 36 weeks for all full-time permanent employees.
Safety shoes: $210 per year (previously $190 per year) effective May 1 of each year. If employee prefers allowance, it will be $150 per year, which is taxable. 
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will pay 100% of cost of 2 sets of uniforms or coveralls per year, 4 sets per year for maintenance group employees.

Editor’s notes: Safety glasses: Employer will provide employees with 1 pair of approved prescription safety glasses, maximum of 1 replacement pair per year, maximum value $130 per pair. Maximum will be $180 for employees requiring special lenses due to documented vision impairment. Welders, precision grinders, maintenance employees will not be subject to limitation of 1 replacement pair per year. Hearing protection: Employer will provide ear muffs or 1 pair of custom-fitted earplugs, maximum of $120 during term of agreement. Travel expenses: $60 per day for employees traveling to and from out-of-town training. Training fund: $900 per year to union training fund.
