Cintas workers in Cambridge, Ont., ratify new agreement

Gender-neutral contract language part of deal: UFCW

United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 175 members at Cintas uniforms in Cambridge, Ont., ratified a new collective agreement on July 31.

The new three-year deal includes several improvements for the membership, including two-per cent salary increase in each year of the contract term, which totals almost $1.50 per hour for most of the employees at Cintas, RRSP enhancements, from $2 to $2.50 for each hour worked and a paid sick-leave increase, said the union.

As well, the contract offers anyone who is working four 10-hour days, 10 hours pay for all statutory holidays, employer contributes $500 per year toward the local union’s training and education fund, and a safety-boot-allowance increase to $200 per year, according to UFCW.

Another big win is new contract language that makes the contract completely gender neutral, said the union.
