Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 June 30, 2022. Signed on Sept 3, 2020.

Shift premium: $0.70 per hour for all hours worked for employee who works majority of hours on afternoon or night shift. $0.55 per hour (previously $0.45 per hour) on all hours worked between Friday 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 p.m. $10 for each shift when registered nurse is absent from normal shift and employer temporarily assigns registered practical nurse to carry out additional responsibilities of absent nurse for more than one-half shift.

Paid holidays: 13 days, including 1 lieu day. Every employee, except those in engineering section, will be entitled to at least 3 consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Year’s.

Vacations with pay: 1 day per month to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 6 weeks after 25 years. Any employee who foregoes vacation in current vacation year may receive postponed vacation during first 6 months of next following year.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work greater than regularly scheduled shift or 80 hours in biweekly pay period; double time for overtime work on statutory holidays. Maximum 40 hours may be carried over into next year (any remaining overtime hours will be paid out on last pay period of year).

Meal allowance: $8 for employee covered by agreement who works 10 consecutive hours or more.

Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Liberty Health supplementary plan; Liberty Health extended health care benefits plan, including deluxe travel plan.

Dental: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums for Blue Cross no. 9 dental care plan.

Vision: $285 for every 24 months, with 12-month prescription and loss or breakage replacement (benefit can be used toward cost of corrective eye surgery). 1 eye exam every 24 consecutive months, maximum $80 per exam for employees and covered dependents only.

Paramedical: $200 per insured person per benefit year registered massage therapist, chiropractic services. $1,000 per person in any 12-months for speech pathologist, physiotherapy, chiropractor, registered massage therapy.

Sick leave: 1 day for each month of service for each permanent employee with seniority date prior to Jan. 1, 1988; 0.75 per day or 6 hours for each month of service for each permanent employee with seniority date after Jan. 1, 1988. Maximum 80 days may be accumulated.

Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 1.5 times annual salary, maximum $75,000.

Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of wife, husband, partner, child, grandchild, parent, sister, brother. 3 days for death of mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. 2 days for death of grandmother, grandfather. 1 day for death of aunt, uncle. Leaves may be extended by 2 paid days under exceptional circumstances. In addition, employer may give 1-day paid leave for other occasions of bereavement.

Seniority – recall rights: 30 months or longer after layoffs.

Probationary period: 45 days worked (period may be extended by 30 working days in extenuating circumstances); 360 hours for part-time employees (period may be extended by 220 hours in extenuating circumstances). 240 working hours when part-time employee is transferred to another classification within bargaining unit

Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months.

Safety shoes: Employer will supply 1 pair of safety shoes to personnel designated by employer and will replace shoes as required.

Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply 4 uniforms to full-time employees, 3 uniforms to part-time employees once per year. Employer will supply 4 uniforms per year for staff in full-time capacity, 2 uniforms per year for staff in part-time capacity in nursing classifications.

Editor’s notes: Standby: $2 per hour for all hours of duty — even if during duty employee is recalled to work and paid appropriate overtime rate. Hearing aids: $300 once every 5 years. Medical examination: Employer will pay cost of employee’s initial compulsory employment medical examination by physician designated by employer. Costs of required annual medical examination will be either: 75% paid by employer and 25% paid by employee (if employee chooses own physician), maximum $50 paid by employer; paid by employer (if medical by employer’s physician).
