Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2019. Signed on July 12, 2016.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective Jan. 1, 2016: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2017: 1.5%
Effective Jan. 1, 2018: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 2.5%
Shift premium: $1.75 per hour for regular hours worked between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Paid holidays: 12 days.
Vacations with pay: 10 hours per calendar month after completing 80 hours’ pay; 13.34 hours per calendar month after 5 years; 16.66 hours per calendar month after 10 years; 20 hours per calendar month after 20 years. 1 year’s entitlement can be carried over. $333.33 monthly vacation travel allowance if at least 80 hours’ pay is received; $1,100 annual vacation travel allowance after 2 years. 32 hours leave, once per year for vacation travel time if at least 40 hours of vacation leave are used.  
Overtime: Time-and-one-half for any hours in excess of 8 in one day or 40 in one week. Double time for all overtime hours in excess of 4 consecutive on a normal working day and in excess of 8 consecutive hours on first day of rest. Double time for all hours worked on the second and subsequent days of rest. Can be banked as lieu time up to a maximum of 80 hours per calendar year.
Medical benefits: Plan cost shared equally between employer and employees.
Dental: Employees cover 25% of cost, employer covers 75%.
Sick leave: 10 hours per calendar month for which at least 80 hours’ pay is earned. Advance credits may be granted up to 120 hours.
LTD: Plan cost shared equally between employer, employees.
AD&D: Plan cost shared equally between employer and employees.
Life insurance: Plan cost shared equally between employer and employees.
Pension: Employee contribution to Northern Employees Benefits Services Pension Plan is mandatory.
Bereavement leave: 64 hours for death of immediate family member or foster child. 1 working shift for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sibling-in-law. 24 hours for travel to funeral or memorial service.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months.
Call-in pay: Greater of applicable overtime rate or at least 4 hours at straight time rate.
Probationary period: 6 months.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Severance: 2 weeks’ pay for first complete year of continuous employment and 1 week for each additional or partial year of continuous employment, if employee has at least 1 year of continuous employment.
Safety shoes: Employer provides $500 per year for MED officer 1 and $425 per year for MED officer II. Employer will provide snowmobile boots to employees as needed.
Sample rates of pay (current, after 19.6% increase):
Med officer II: $64,700.54 rising in 5 steps to $77,389.13
Med officer I: $54,995.45 rising in 5 steps to $65,780.78
Student: 80% of the initial rate.
Editor’s notes: Medical examination: When employer requires an employee to undergo an examination to maintain or obtain a certification required by the city, there will be no cost to the employee. Employees will be granted leave with pay for such examinations. Long service bonus: $1,000 after 5 years ($16.66 per month if position is terminated after 5 years). Marriage leave: 40 hours. Housing allowance: $116.67 per month, if worked at least 80 hours.
