Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2013, to March 31, 2017. Signed on Aug. 21, 2015. 
Shift premium: $2.75 per hour for afternoon and evening shift. $5 for overnight shift. $3.25 for weekend.  
Paid holidays: 11 named holidays and 1 float day.
Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 20 days after 2 years, 25 days after 10 years, 30 days after 20 years. 
Overtime: Double time. No employee can go over 16 hours in 24-hour period.
Meal allowance: If employee works 4 hours or more following full shift, meal and snack provided by employer. 
Medical benefits: Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. 70% premium coverage by employer. 
Dental: 80% of basic services, 50% of extensive services to a maximum of $3,000 per person per year, and 50% of orthodontic services to a lifetime maximum of $3,000 per person. 
Vision: Annual eye exam and up to $600 every 2 years for corrective lenses. Coverage for corrective laser eye surgery.
Paramedical: 80% direct payment for medication. $3,000 every 5 years for hearing aids, 100% coverage for diabetic supplies, 2 pairs of surgical stockings per year, chiropractic coverage, 100% coverage for respiratory equipment, and coverage for listed vaccines. $100 per visit to a maximum of 20 visits per year to a psychologist (previously $50).
Sick leave: 1 and one-half days for each month of employment up to 120 days.
STD: 66.23% of weekly earnings for a maximum of 120 days.
LTD: 66.23% of weekly earnings for a maximum of 120 days.
AD&D: 1x basic annual earnings rounded to next highest $1,000.
Life insurance: 1x basic annual earnings rounded to next highest $1,000.
Pension: Employer will match employee contributions to a maximum of 5% of gross earnings per pay.
Bereavement leave: 5 days with pay for death of spouse, child, stepchildren, parent, stepparent, sibling or stepsibling, mother- or father-in-law, brother- or sister-in-law, son- or daughter-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, guardian, fiancé, niece or nephew, aunt, or uncle. 2 more days with pay for travel time to out-of-town funeral. 1 day with pay for death of another relative or close friend. 
Seniority – recall rights: 1 year.
Call-in pay: 4 hours’ pay plus transportation expenses. If fewer than 4 hours left when asked to leave, employee paid for whole shift.
Probationary period: 503.75 hours.
Severance: 2 weeks' regular salary for each full year of continuous service to a maximum payment of 40 weeks.
Safety shoes: $500 every 2 years for foot orthotics.
Mileage: Transportation costs paid by employer if called back. Reimbursement for means of getting home if employee asked to stay late and misses public transportation.
Sample rates of pay (current, after 2% increase):
Registered nurse/registered psychiatric nurse: $35 per hour rising in 8 steps to $45.93.
Certified graduate nurse/graduate psychiatric nurse: $32.02 rising in 8 steps to $39.11.
Undergraduate nurse: $26.29
Editor’s notes: Pay differential: 50¢ extra per hour for a clinical course. 50¢ for active registration in the CARNA plus diploma in psychiatric nursing. 50¢ for diploma/certificate in nursing unit administration. 50¢ for 1-year diploma. $1.25 for baccalaureate degree. $1.50 for master’s degree. $1.75 for doctorate. Maternity/paternity/adoption leave: 1 year without pay and benefits, 2 weeks’ notice of return to work. Educational leave: 24 months’ maximum where employee still considered employed by employer. May work as a casual employee during this time.
