Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 2, 2020 to Oct. 1, 2026. Signed on March 31, 2021.
Shift premium: $1.30 per hour will apply to any employee designated as lead-hand. $1 for all hours worked between hours of 5 pm and 8 a.m. $1.90 for all hours worked on Saturday; $2.30 for all hours worked on Sunday.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus 2 floater days.
Vacations with pay: 80 hours or 4% after 1 year, 120 hours of 6% after 3 years, 160 hours or 8% after 10 years, 200 hours or 10% after 20 years, 240 hours or 12% after 30 years. Employees who have completed 25 years of service will receive additional 2 weeks of vacation in year of twenty-fifth anniversary of consecutive years of service. Each fifth year thereafter, employee will receive 2 extra weeks vacation in addition to normal vacation entitlement in anniversary year (for employees who received benefit as of Dec. 31, 2010).
Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week for 8-hour shifts. Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week for 10-hour shifts. Time and one-half for work after 12 hours per day for 12-hours shifts. Time and one-half for hours worked on second consecutive day off; double-time when employee works on second scheduled day-off. Time may be accumulated, maximum 40 hours. Employer will pay out all unused banked hours in last pay period of each April.
Sick leave: 4 hours for each month of employment, maximum 48 hours. Employee who works complete year will receive payout of 100% of balance of accrued sick leave by March 1 of following year, provided that employee has not received written warning regarding attendance in that calendar year; 125% for employee who achieves perfect attendance (no sick or personal leave days taken).
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, parents, child, brother, sister, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law). 1 day off, with pay, for death of brother-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law. Additional 2 days’ travel time, if travel exceeds 350 kilometres 1-way.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs; 24 months if employee is absent from work due to sickness or accident (if there is medical evidence that employee is likely to return to work within reasonable and specified time, period may be extended at discretion of management); 90 days for employee who accepts job (whether permanent or temporary) with company but outside bargaining unit (1 occasion only).
Call-in pay: Employee called back to work after shift has been completed for up to 2.5 hours will be paid minimum of 4 hours at straight-time; any hours greater than 2.5 hours will be paid at overtime rate of time and one-half.
Probationary period: 640 hours of work within period of 6 consecutive months.
Severance: 2 week’s pay for each year of service completed, maximum 72 weeks.
Safety shoes: Employer will reimburse employee maximum $180 per year for full-time employees who may purchase footwear from suppliers approved by employer (approved suppliers will be communicated to union). $180 amount can be carried over for 2-year period.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply $400 per year to each outside and warehouse full-time employee for uniforms. Each employee is required to purchase 2 pants/shorts and 5 shirts. Due to food and drug policies only production, quality assurance, syrup makers, maintenance will have uniforms provided separately; laundered and paid for by employer. Employer will supply each outside employee with 3-in-1 jacket (winter coat, shell, vest) every 24 months. Employer will supply each inside employee with 1 bomber jacket every 24 months. Part-time, temporary employees will be provided with 5 T-shirts and are required to wear other appropriate attire. Employer will provide 1 pair of safety glasses to each employee who is required to wear safety glasses (standard multifactor safety glasses with Clearvue side shields). Protective eyewear must be worn in all designated areas including tank-washer, pallet repair area, paint shop, CO2 filling area or if potential for eye injury exists.

Editor’s notes: Overnight meal allowance: Maximum $75 to employee who travels overnight outside of Calgary. On-call: $75 per 7-day week or one $100 for week that includes holiday weekend in addition to regular rate (not to be used in overtime calculations).
