Collective agreement: Bethesda Community Services Inc.

Renewal agreement: April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2026. 

Wage adjustments: 

2024: 4.7% 
2025: 4.5% 
 
Shift premium: $0.60 per hour for any hours worked between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m., between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., and between 7 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday. Not applicable to overtime hours. 

Paid holidays: 15 days including 4 floater days for full-time employees, 9 days for part-time employees. 

Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 2 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 15 years, 7 weeks after 20 years. After 23 years, 8 additional hours per full year of service. After 30 years, 40 additional hours. 

Overtime: Time-and-a-half for authorized hours worked in excess of the standard daily or bi-weekly hours and all hours worked on a paid holiday. Time-and-a-half for call-backs with a minimum of 3 hours guaranteed for each call-back. Double time for all hours worked of mandatory overtime. 

Medical Benefits: Employer pays full premiums for extended health care plan. 

Dental: Employer pays full premiums for Great West Life No. 9 Dental Plan or comparable coverage. Up to $3,000 per dependent child for orthodontic coverage for full-time employees. 

Vision: $225 every 24 months per employee and dependents, plus cost of eye exam every 24 months. 

Long-term disability: Employer pays full cost of premiums for plan determined by length of continuous service. 

Life insurance: Employer pays full cost of premiums for coverage of twice the employee’s annual income. 

Pension: Full-time employees required to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). 

Bereavement leave: 6 paid days for death of parent, spouse, child, or sibling, including step relatives, foster children, common law spouses, and fetus of at least 12 weeks’ gestation. 3 paid days for death of parent-in-law, sibling-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, or child-in-law. 1 paid day for funeral of niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, or spouse’s grandparent. 
 
Sick leave: Full-time employees: 100% of salary for first 4 ill periods up to 5 working days per illness. After 5 working days, 66% of salary up to 15 weeks. 5th and subsequent illnesses have no benefit for the first day and 66% of salary after that, up to 15 weeks. From the 16th to 41st week of total disability, EI sick benefits. Part-time employees: 32 hours at 100% pay per fiscal year. 

Seniority – recall rights: 18 months. 

Probationary period: 3 months for full-time employees and 520 hours for part-time employees in Service departments. 7 months for full-time employees and 1,120 hours for part-time employees in Residential Life and Developmental Services departments. 

Uniforms/clothing: $200 per year to Developmental Centre staff for safety shoes if a health and safety requirement. $500 per year to Maintenance Department staff for safety shoes, boots, and seasonally appropriate clothing. $130 per year to Recreation staff for swimwear if required to perform duties.

Developmental support worker – education: $25.76-$27.46 (2024) rising in 1 step to $26.76-$28.46 (2025). 
General maintenance: $24.70-$26.13 (2024) rising in 1 step to $25.70-$27.13 (2025). 
Behaviour counsellor – full-time: $26.10-$27.82 (2024) rising in 1 step to $27.10-$28.82 (2025). 
Developmental support worker: $25.85-$27.30 (2024) rising in 1 step to $26.85-$28.30 (2025). 
Laundry – housekeeping: $22.22-$22.89 (2024) rising in 1 step to $23.22-23.89 (2025). 
Aide II: $24.07-$24.82 (2024) rising in 1 step to $25.07-$25.82 (2025). 
Part-time sleep nights: $20 (2024) rising in 1 step to $21 (2025).
