Provincewide, British Columbia (600 cooks, aides, food-service workers) and the Hospital Employees’ Union (HEU)

Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2016, to Sept. 30, 2020. Signed on April 2, 2018.
Shift premium: $0.30 per hour (previously $0.20 per hour) on afternoon shift. $0.75 per hour for night shift. $0.65 per shift laundry premium.
Paid holidays: 10 days.
Vacations with pay: 4% to start, 10 days or 4% after 1 year, 12 days or 4.8% after 5 years, 15 days or 6% after 6 years, 17 days or 6.8% after 9 years, 20 days or 8% after 11 years, 25 days or 10% after 16 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, double time thereafter. Time and one-half for all work on scheduled day off.
Meal allowance: Employees are allowed amount of food and drink for personal consumption during shift, to be paid by employee through automatic payroll deduction of $2.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for B.C. Medical Plan.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for basic prevention coverage.
Vision: $250 per employee every 24 months. $50 every 24 months for eye exams.
Sick leave: 8 days per year. 50% of unused sick leave from previous year, maximum 3 days, will be paid out to employees in February.
AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $25,000.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $25,000.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (parent, stepparent, foster-parent, spouse, child, stepchild, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, legal guardian, legal ward). Additional 2 days without pay for travel more than 250 kilometres.
Seniority – recall rights: 6 months. 
Call-in pay: Minimum of 2 hours’ pay at applicable rate. $0.40 per kilometre for call-ins.
Probationary period: 450 hours worked. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Safety shoes: $0.10 per shift worked for employees required to purchase non-slip shoes.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply appropriate number of uniforms including shirts, pants, hair covering, aprons if required.
Mileage: $0.40 per kilometre, minimum $40.

Laundry/housekeeping aide: $15.85 rising 7 steps to $17.10
Laundry/housekeeping lead-hand: $17.05 rising 7 steps to $18.30
Food general help: $15.85 rising 7 steps to $17.10
Food lead-hand: $17.05 rising 7 steps to $18.30
Cook: $18.91 rising 7 steps to $20.16
Editor’s notes: Medical notes: Employer will reimburse employees for any costs incurred, maximum $15, if required by employer to prove sickness.
