Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2023. Signed on March 1, 2020.

Shift premium: $0.25 per hour for shop stewards. 8 hours of pay for 7.5 hours of work on afternoon shift; 8 hours of pay for 7 hours of work on night shift. 8.5 hours of pay for 7.5 hours of work on afternoon shift underground; 8.5 hours of pay for 7 hours of work on night shift underground. $4 per hour worked on alternate shift schedules. 50% of straight-time rate (minimum 2 hours) for employees who work at elevations of 80 feet or more above immediate surrounding area where no fixed permanent platforms or ladders are installed. 10% for employees who work underground (does not apply to work performed within basements of buildings, open ditches, completed underground structures such as power houses, cable vaults, transformer vaults). 50% for employee who is assigned to work directly with helicopter and whose work during that day requires employee to work above ground.

Paid holidays: 14 days including Friday preceding B.C. Day, Friday preceding Labour Day.

Vacations with pay: 6% of total earnings on each pay cheque.

Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Time and one-half for first 8 hours worked on Saturday for commercial/institutional jobs; double time for industrial jobs.

Meal allowance: Employer will provide 1 hot meal at second break at no cost to employee or meal allowance of $17 (previously $25) or amount specified by CRA as reasonable for overtime meal where work is required beyond 10 hours.

Medical benefits: Employer will pay $2.30 for each payroll hour earned by each employee to electrical industry’s welfare trust funds for local 213 only; $2.30 for each payroll hour earned by each employee for locals 230, 993, 1003.

Pension: Employer will pay $5.95 per hour for each local 213 employee; $5.10 per hour for each locals 230, 993 employee; $5.25 per hour for each local 1003 employee.

Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse (including common-law spouse), parent, child, sibling, (including adopted children), grandparent, grandchild).

Call-in pay: Paid at prevailing rate, from time of call-in until returning home, minimum 2 hours including travelling time. For incidental overtime hours on Saturday, Sunday, statutory holidays that are scheduled prior to Friday noon, employees will be paid time worked on site plus travel time, if applicable.

Safety shoes: Rubber boots (steel toed as required) for employees working in toxic or caustic environments will be supplied by employer to employees who work in adverse conditions.

Uniforms/clothing: Leather and rubber gloves, coveralls and other necessary clothing will be supplied by employer. Protective clothing and safety equipment including stamped rubber gloves, fall-arrest equipment, hard hats, winter linings, new sweat bands as required by WorkSafeBC or customer-required site-specific conditions to protect employee and clothing will be supplied by employer.

Mileage: $0.59 per kilometre (previously $0.54 per kilometre) by most direct route inclusive of ferry expenses (driver and vehicle - ferry standard 20 feet) from point of dispatch or residence, whichever is closer to job, for out-of-town jobs.

Editor’s notes: Turnaround/periodic leave: On out-of-town projects longer than 50 calendar days, employer will provide leave every 40 calendar days plus allowance: $200 for 250 kilometres to 500 kilometres; $300 for 501 kilometres to 750 kilometres; $400 for 751 kilometres to 1,000 kilometres; $500 for more than 1,000 kilometres. Bursary fund: Employer will contribute $0.07 for each hour worked by employees to electrical industry bursary fund. Association fund: Employer will contribute the $0.17 for each hour worked to electrical contractors administration fund.
