Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $0.75 per hour for each hour worked (except where such hours are as due to overtime or except for Cowichan Aquatic Centre) when majority of hours of shift happen before 5:30 a.m. in any day or after 5:30 p.m. in any day. $0.50 for each hour worked in second portion of shift when employee works split shift and break exceeds 1.5 hours. $2 per hour (previously $0.70 per hour for work on midnight shift) for each hour worked during graveyard shift for employees who work graveyard shift from Nov. 15 to March 15. 10% while so engaged for employees hired prior to Dec. 31, 2000 (other than those regularly employed as fulltime or part-time operators) who work as refuse packer operators or for employees in contact with live sewage (meaning sewer mains, sewer services, sewer pump stations or waste water treatment plants).
Paid holidays: 13 days, including Easter Monday, British Columbia Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Vacations with pay: Pro-rated to start, 15 days after 1 year, 16 days after 2 years, 17 days after 3 years, 18 days after 4 years, 19 days after 5 years, 20 days after 6 years, 21 days after 9 years, 22 days after 10 years, 23 days after 11 years, 24 days 12 years, 25 days after 13 years, 26 days after 20 years, 27 days after 21 years, 28 days after 22 years, 29 days after 23 years, 30 days after 24 years.
Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 overtime hours each day and on first day of employee’s 2 days off; double time for work after those hours and after first 12 hours on first of employee’s 2 days off and on second of 2 days off. Employee may bank time off in lieu, maximum 90 hours per year. Employee may utilize maximum 120 hours of lieu time off per year. Employees who have more than 100 hours accumulated on Dec. 31 will have excess paid out.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Sick leave: 1 day per month, maximum 180 days of accrual. After 5 years of service, employee who leaves employ of employer will be paid in total for unused sick-leave pay.
LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums and participation in plan will be condition of employment.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of spouse, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, children, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoffs.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 hours at overtime rates.
Probationary period: 65 working days from date of hire.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 36 months for letters of discipline.
Safety shoes: Employer will provide each year 50% of cost of safety shoes, maximum $400 per year (may include raingear). On-deck employees at Cowichan Aquatic Centre will be reimbursed cost of 1 pair of anti-slip or protection footwear per year, maximum $150.
