Provincewide, Ontario (5,000 health-care employees) and the Professional Association of Residents of Ontario (PARO)

Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2020. Signed on April 27, 2017. 
Paid holidays: 10 days, plus 1 floating holiday. 5 additional days during 12-day Christmas period for all house-staff. 
Vacations with pay: 4 weeks per year. 
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for OHIP coverage. 
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for $250 every 24 months. Effective July 1, 2018: $300 every 24 months.
Paramedical: $500 from each eligible paramedical practitioner per covered person. 
Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual earnings. 
Severance: 4 weeks’ pay. 
Uniforms/clothing: Uniforms will be provided and laundered at employer’s expense. Operating room greens will be made readily accessible to all house-staff, female and male. Employer will make available appropriate protective equipment and clothing where circumstances warrant.

Editor’s notes: Taxi charges: Maximum $70 per month. Training: Employees will be provided free of charge with advanced cardiac life-support course or equivalent that is consistent with educational and training requirements as determined by faculty of medicine of respective university. Call stipends: $116 (previously $105) for residents scheduled for in-hospital call, $58 (previously $52.50) for residents scheduled for home-call or for qualifying shifts (including emergency department and other night shifts worked).
