Shift premium: $2.50 per hour for all hours worked 1 shift between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. $2.75 per hour for all employees working on Saturday or Sunday. $1 per hour for all hours worked, while in charge, from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day and for all hours on weekend for health-care aide (HCA) who is assigned to be in charge (1 assigned HCA to be in charge for each shift). $0.50 per hour from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day for baker assigned to be in-charge.
Paid holidays: 12 days. Employee may be permitted to accumulate holiday lieu time (for employees who do not request day off on holiday) maximum 24 hours for use at future date.
Vacations with pay: 8 hours for each 208 hours worked, maximum 80 hours, to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 9 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 20 years. Employee may bank time, maximum 2 weeks. Unused time from previous year will be paid out in December of current year.
Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours in 24-hour period or 40 hours per week. Double time for work after 4 hours of overtime.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums.
Dental: Employer pays 60% of premiums, employee pays 40% of premiums. Reimbursement of 80% of core basic services; 50% of all extensive services; 50% of all periodontal services, maximum annual reimbursement of $2,000 per insured person per benefit year; 50% of eligible orthodontic services for dependent children lifetime maximum of $2,000 per participant.
Sick leave: Full-time employees who have completed probation will have income-protection bank topped up to 8 days on Jan. 1 of each year (pro-rated for part-time employees). No employee will be entitled to have more than 8 days per year.
STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums.
Life insurance: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of premiums.
Pension: All eligible employees will participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (parent, current spouse (including common-law spouse, same-gender partner), son, daughter, ward, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, parent of spouse, grandson, granddaughter, grandparents, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, niece, nephew, stepchild, related dependent of employee living in household). 2 additional days for death of spouse, child, parent. 1 additional day for travel more than 500 kilometres round-trip to attend funeral.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months for layoffs or while on LTD (employee will not accrue further seniority while on LTD).
Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at applicable rate of pay or compensation equivalent to 4 hours or pay at employee’s regular rate for time worked.
Probationary period: 520 hours worked.
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months for disciplinary warning, reprimand or suspension, in writing.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will reimburse employees 50% of cost of purchase of uniforms, footwear maximum $175 per year.
