Owner-operators at Dicom courier company in Drummondville, Que., joined the Teamsters Union on April 24.

Teamsters filed the application for certification with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).

The company has reduced its pay scale in the past few weeks, reducing their salary to what it was 15 years ago, said the union.

“We are very happy to welcome these new members to our great Teamsters family,” said Richard Lamoureux, Local 931 president. “We’re going to start working on improving their conditions as soon as the certification has been approved by the CIRB.”

Teamsters represents more than 17,000 employees in the parcel and package delivery sector at companies such as Purolator, UPS, Intelcom, ICS, Nationex, Dynamex, MGM, CMC Express, Loomis and Colispro, said the union.

Teamsters represents almost 125,000 workers across Canada, including more than 35,000 workers in various industries in Quebec.
