The Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) confirmed on Oct. 29 that the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) will now be representing the 750 drivers and support employees of the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO).

CUPE represents the most land transportation employees in the province, says the union.

“The STO employees clearly expressed in large numbers their willingness to change unions. Close to 90 per cent of the members gave their support to CUPE,” says Guy Gosselin, president of the local union.

STO is the second group from the Outaouais to join CUPE recently, following the City of Gatineau white-collar workers, says the union.
