Vancouver (240 walkers, bicycle couriers, truck drivers) and Unifor Local 114

Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2016, to March 31, 2019. Signed on April 4, 2017.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective April 1, 2017: 1.5%
Effective April 1, 2018: 1.5%
Shift premium: Vehicle calls: If bike courier handles call that are vehicle calls, premium of $5.75. Biker training: $40.25 per day. Owner-operator training: $63.25 per day. Trainee pay: $12.65 per hour.
Paid holidays: 10 days. 
Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked after regular hours.
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums.
Dental: 100% for minor services, 50% for major services, maximum $1,500 per year.
Vision: $100 every 24 months (every 12 months for dependants younger than 18).
Sick leave: 1 to 5 years’ service: 2 days per year. 6 to 10 years’ service: 4 days per year. 11 years’ service: 5 days per year. If not used within 12 months, employer will reimburse employee 75%
Life insurance: Basic coverage: $25,000.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of parent, spouse, brother, sister, child, stepchild, foster-child, parent-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, legal guardian, grandparents, grandchildren, nephews, nieces.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months. 18 months if layoff is result of labour dispute with another company or employee has 5 or more years of seniority. 
Probationary period: 90 days. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months.
Severance: 3 days’ pay per year of service, if owner-operator has more than 2 years’ service.
Safety shoes: $100 every 12 months.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide uniforms for owner-operators: 5 shirts, 2 pair of pants, 1 jacket, cap (optional). Employer will provide uniforms for hourly employees: 5 shirts, 3 pairs of shorts/pants, 1 jacket.

4+ years: $115.36 rising 1 step to $117.09

Mini-van/pickup 
0-4 years: $147.07 rising 1 step to $149.28

Editor’s notes: Union label sticker: Owner-operator or employee may post CAW Canada union label — not more than 4” in diameter — in cab of vehicle or equipment. Provision of collective agreements: Employer will pay for all costs associated to print and distribute new collective agreement to membership in unionized print shop, maximum $2,500. Costs for collective bargaining: Employer will pay union $5,000 for time spent or remuneration lost, as part of union negotiating committee in renewal collective bargaining. Communication charges: $45 per month for owner-operators who are required to have communication equipment.
