Food service members at Winnipeg airport reach new deal: UFCW

Wage increases, shift premiums hours all rising

UFCW Canada Local 832 members working at the Richardson International Airport in Winnipeg have ratified a new three-year collective agreement.

The members perform a variety of duties at restaurants and coffee shops throughout the airport.

Those covered under the collective agreement will see an across-the-board wage increase of nine per cent over the term of the contract, along with improvements to health and welfare benefits. Members will also see improvements to the shift premium, and an increase in hours for both full-time and part-time workers, according to the union.

As well, the union and the employer have agreed to review and upgrade job classifications going forward, said the union.
