Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 9, 2020 to Jan. 9, 2024. Ratified on May 22, 2020. Signed on May 22, 2020.
Wage adjustments:

Shift premium: $1 for hours on afternoon shift. $1.10 for hours on night shift. $1.15 per hour for AAR-certified. $0.95 per hour for lining applicator.
Paid holidays: 11 days, plus Easter Monday, that will be considered as floating statutory holiday and it will be scheduled at mutually agreeable time (employee who works on any holidays will be paid at overtime rate of time and three quarters for all hours worked, in addition to regular holiday pay).
Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 11 days, to start, 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 20 years, 6 weeks after 28 years. Employees will be entitled to third, fourth, fifth, sixth week of vacation on first, tenth, twentieth, twenty-eighth anniversary dates of service respectively.
Overtime: Time and three-quarters for all hours worked outside of employee’s normal working hours. Double time will be paid for work performed on Sunday.
Meal allowance: 20-minute paid lunch period and $12 in lieu of hot meal for employees who continue working for more than 2 hours beyond regular shift or called in and required to work more than 4 hours (paid on paycheque with no taxes deducted).
Dental: Maximum coverage of $1,400 per year (previously $1,200 per year). Lifetime maximum $1,750 for orthodontics.
Vision: $250 (previously $225) per employee and spouse every 2 years; every 1 year for dependents younger than 18. $75 once every 2 years; every 1 year for dependants younger than 18 for eye exams.
Paramedical: $1,000 combined maximum per year for services rendered by registered masseur, chiropractor, osteopath, physical therapist
Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 66 2/3 weekly pay plus $40.
LTD: Maximum $1,750 per month (previously $1,700 per month).
AD&D: Coverage of $50,000.
Life insurance: Coverage of 1 times employee’s annual salary.
Pension: Employer will contribute $2.45 per hour (previously $2.35 per hour) to pension plan. Effective Jan. 9, 2024: $2.50 per hour.
Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, legal guardian, spouse, common-law spouse, child, stepchild, grandfather, grandmother, grandchild, brother/sister of employee; father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, grandchild, brother, sister of employee’s spouse. 1 additional day will be given if employee is required to travel more than 300 kilometres, 1-way, to attend funeral.
Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoff; 1 year or employee’s seniority, whichever is less, for employee appointed to position with company beyond scope of agreement.
Call-in pay: Minimum of 4 hours’ pay at applicable rate.
Probationary period: 60 days worked.
Discipline: Sunset clause is rolling 1-year period for minor rule/policy violations; rolling 2-year period for major rule/policy violations; rolling 3-year period for safety rule violations.
Severance: 1 week’s pay for every year of service when service centre closes.
Safety shoes: $160 per year (previously $150 per year) for safety boots meeting CSA standards that will be compulsory for all employees, excluding office personnel, who regularly work in shop area, after 1 year of service (unspent portion may be used for boot repair within that year only).
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide winter clothing for employees assigned to outside work (maximum 10 outfits): switching crew, inspectors, employees tasked to pad, will have shared-use Ski-Doo suits/insulated coveralls plus leather mitts together with woolen liners; engineer in charge of steam rack will be supplied with 1 parka and 1 set of leather mitts together with woolen liners; winter boots will be provided each year to employees assigned to work in switching-crew and steam-rack areas.

$1,000 ratification bonus (payable to current employees upon first-vote contract ratification)
Editor’s notes: Prescription safety glasses: Glasses will be supplied if needed, at no cost to employees, initially after completion of probationary period and when needed thereafter. Attendance bonus: 1 additional day off with pay in next year for employee who records perfect attendance (no missed shifts). Welder apprentice training: Employer will top up weekly EI benefit, to 25% of weekly entitlement or $50, whichever is higher. Upon successful completion of training, participants will be eligible for reimbursement for books, maximum $200 per calendar year, as well as any registration fees, maximum $800. PEL: Employer will remit $1,200 per year to PEL fund to provide training to bargaining-unit members of GATX Red Deer.
