Geo-Tech Industries employees in Crofton, B.C., sign new deal

First-aid premiums, boot allowances increased: IAM

Members of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), Local Lodge 456 ratified a new collective agreement on April 30 with Geo-Tech Industries in Crofton, B.C.

“Our members are extremely happy with this agreement and it reflects the value of their expertise,” said John Humphrey, IAM district lodge 250 business representative.

The three-year agreement provides wage increases of five per cent in the first year and three per cent in the second and third year respectively, said the union.

Other agreement highlights included family eye-care benefit increased to $350 per year, the living-out allowance increased, first-aid premiums doubled and the boot allowance increased, said IAM.

The 14 workers include machinists, welders, fabricators, millwrights and painters.

Geo-Tech specializes in all types of custom fabrication and services to the pulp and paper, mining, petroleum and chemical industries all over the world.
