Government and AMAPCEO reach tentative two-year agreement

Deal includes 2-year wage freeze

The Association of Management, Administrative and Professional Crown Employees of Ontario (AMAPCEO) and the Ontario government have reached a tentative contract after 11 weeks of collective bargaining.

The agreement affects 10,000 public service employees and revolves mainly around a commitment to a two-year wage freeze, which the government says will help restore the province’s fiscal balance and continue to provide public services for families.

On AMAPCEO’s website, president and CEO Gary Gannage said the settlement was reached at 7:30 p.m. Monday due to intensive negotiations over the weekend, and more than 1,000 bargaining hours in total.

“This undoubtedly was the most difficult and challenging round of bargaining we have ever faced,” he said.

More details of the agreement will be released once the deal is ratified.
