Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2020. Signed on June 24, 2016.
Wage adjustments: 
Effective Jan. 1, 2017: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2018: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 2%
Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 2%
Shift premium: Afternoon shift: $1.75 per hour for all hours worked between 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Weekend shift: $1.50 per hour for all hours worked on Saturday or Sunday.
Paid holidays: 11 days. 
Vacations with pay: 1 1/4 days per month to start, 1 2/3 days per month after 6 years, 1 5/16 days per month after 17 years, 2 1/12 days per month after 18 years, 2 1/4 days per month after 28 years, 2 1/2 days per month after 29 years. 
Overtime: Time and one-half for the first 4 hours worked after regular hours and double time thereafter. Time and one-half for the first 9 hours worked after regular hours and double time thereafter for firefighters. Double time for all hours worked after 16 hours in a 24-hour period. May be banked as leave, maximum 130 hours.
Meal allowance: $13 when working more than 3 hours before or after regular shift. Effective Nov. 1, 2019: $13.50. Additional meal allowance when employee works more than 4 hours of overtime. 
Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Medical Services Plan of New Brunswick.
Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 90% coverage for basic services. 50% coverage for major restorative services, maximum $1,250 per person per year. 50% coverage for orthodontic, maximum $5,500 per person per year. 
Sick leave: 1 1/4 days per month. 15 days leave may be advanced to employees, when not enough days have been accumulated. 
LTD: 70% of monthly salary, maximum $8,000. 
Life insurance: Employer pays 38% of premiums for coverage of 200% of salary.
Pension: For employees covered under the GMIAA Defined Benefit Plan, employees must contribute: on the first $3,500 earnings, 7.5%; on earnings between $3,500 and $35,800, 4.575%; on earnings between $35,800 and $98,641, 7.5%. Employer will match contributions. For employees hired after Sept. 1, 1997, defined contribution plan. Employee must contribute 7.5%, matched by employer. Effective Jan. 1, 2020: 8%.
Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, spouse, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of the employee, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparent, relative residing in the employee’s household). Additional 3 days for travel if necessary. 1 day for death of brother-in-law, sister-in-law.
Seniority – recall rights: 2 years. 
Call-in pay: Employee will be paid the greater of: 4 hours’ overtime pay or the number of hours actually worked at overtime rate. 
Probationary period: 6 months. 
Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months.
Severance: 2 weeks’ pay per first year, 1 week for subsequent years, maximum 30 weeks.
Safety shoes: $125 per year (previously $85 per year) for CSA-approved footwear.
Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply: shirts, pants, coveralls, jacket (summer), sweatshirt/sweater, cap (all-season), T-shirts, belt with buckle, snow-pants, rainwear. Employer will provide laundry facilities. Employer will provide 1 lined winter parka once every 5 years.

Editor’s notes: Religious holy days: Employer will allow employee time-off with pay on religious holidays, provided employee is prepared to make up the time off outside normal hours of work. Health-care allowance: $60 per month (previously $50 per month). Effective Jan. 1, 2018: $70 per month. Firefighter fitness: Firefighters will be allowed 1 hour of fitness training per shift during regular work hours. Standby pay: When the employer requires an employee to be available for standby during off-duty hours, the employee will receive payment of $10 for each 8 hours on standby.
