Hospitality workers at Hilton Airport Halifax sign first contract

United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW) Canada, Local 864 members working at the Hilton Garden Inn Airport Halifax hotel ratified a first collective agreement on April 27 that includes wage gains of up to 15 per cent over the term of the contract.

The hotel is located minutes away from the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The new employees work as room attendants and in laundry services, said the union.

In addition to wages increases, some of the other gains include increased paid vacation days, additional paid sick days and holidays, a formal grievance procedure and enhanced job security, said UFCW.
